Know your rights
If you’re an NDIS funds receiver, you need to follow all the Australian laws and rules. You have rights and responsibilities when choosing your supports.
- You can choose who gives you support and how it's done. You're not limited to just one provider for everything.
- If you think a provider isn't looking out for your best interests, you don't have to use them.
- It's okay to ask a provider if they have any conflicts of interest.
- You shouldn't feel forced to buy services or support you don't want or need.
- If you're managed by the NDIA or have a plan manager, you must pay a fair price for support, according to the NDIS Pricing Arrangement and Price Limits.
- You get to decide what personal information you give to a provider for your support.
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/) collaborates with all providers to ensure that you can access supports that offer you choice and control. They provide a participant information pack (https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/resources/language-and-formats/aboriginal-torres-strait-islander-resources/aboriginal-and-torres#paragraph-id-3236) to help you comprehend your rights.
Registered providers are required to adhere to quality standards, demonstrating that they offer quality, secure supports to participants. These standards also aid participants in understanding what they should expect from their registered providers.
All providers must comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct (https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/about/ndis-code-conduct).
